Hey, It's Jake!
Character Design
Hey look at me! I am Jake!
Jake is a simple stylized character that I have created. This was my first main project in the realms of character design. I have also created a stylized pair of canvas shoes for Jake to wear so that it matches his outfit! The character is also rigged and ready to be used for animations and poses.
Following a tutorial on YouTube, I used a couple of modelling techniques which mostly consisted of applying a subdivision surface modifier to cubes and then modifying that shape to the desired shape we require for the characters body. The clothes were added by duplicating the surface and increasing the size to create a layer. Boolean geometry was used to create the mouth.

I used a basic metarig that is available in blender to create the bones. These bones were then aligned to the different parts of the body, such as fingers, shoulders, neck, hips, knees , feet , etc. Alignment of these bones is important to create realistic poses and animations.
The metarig was then attached to the body using individual weights and the character was then successfully rigged and ready to be used. Using the pose mode, I was able to control the different parts of Jake and position him in the way i require.

I decided to move him to perform a basic wave pose and after setting up a simple background and some studio lighting, I had created this final render
